Dawn : Friday Fictioneers

This weeks fiction for Friday Fictioneers is Dawn.

I’ve had another restless night, and although I must have slept a little, my body still cries out for sleep and rest.

The day dawns with hope.

The timid sunrise promises a better day.

I grab the front of the cold kitchen sink and haul myself up to admire the view, but, unable to lock my knees, I fall back onto the wheelchair with a heavy thud.

Both of my legs are injured but I should recover in time.

Alice’s funeral is later this afternoon.

Afterwards, the Police want to question me again.

The accident, I’m afraid, was my fault.
