The Beaver family strayed rarely from the water’s edge.
Mainly nocturnal, they built their lodges to live in and dams for protection.
But this stump acted as a signpost for a visiting Brown Bear.
Only a few of the family survived, moving elsewhere.
Defiant: only the stump remains.
