Heritage – Daily Post Photo Challenge

Well after a rather lengthy pause, I’m easing back into my regular schedule. In between times I lost my Mum and went on two lengthy but enjoyable trips.

This has nothing to do with this week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge however which is – Heritage.

The photo illustrates a Maori heritage on a wooden sculpture in Rotorua, New Zealand.

Daily Post Photo Challenge : Anticipation

Anticipation is the subject of this week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge

Without hesitation, I thought of this sequence of photos from our recent trip to New Zealand.

We went to Waiheke Island near Auckland and my wife was super brave and surprised everybody by doing a zip-line with me! You can almost feel the anticipation as she prepares to fly!

One Word Photo Challenge: Dodge

Dodge is an unkind word for the people of Christchurch, NZ.

70% of Christchurch was or has needed to be demolished after the earthquake in 2011 and only 40% has been rebuilt.

I saw that the inhabitants of Christchurch are very resilient and have often found temporary solutions to the destruction such as the Re-Start shopping area made with shipping containers.

This is my entry to this weeks OWPC.

Daily Post Photo Challenge : Cherry on Top

Cherry on Top

A very interesting theme (once again) for the Daily Post Photo Challenge. Some of the photos might seem tenuous. To finally eat some New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussels was the Cherry on top of our recent cruise, while to take a photo of an alert Koala is harder than it might seem. They sleep for most of the day! To finally see a part of the poppy display (The Wave) at Lincoln Cathedral was also a welcome sight. Lastly on a Whale watching excursion we were treated to some Orcas and even a baby Orca!
